let’s talk: budget

Generally, us humans don’t like to talk about money - to some, it can feel rude or just incredibly awkward; but when it comes to our bespoke design process, it’s unfortunately something that can’t be avoided. But we promise to guide and advise you as best we can … and to make it as painless as possible!

Let’s talk about why we ask for your budget and why it matters.

First things first, it’s not because we’re nosey.

There is no judgement involved, and it’s not just because we’re curious about your finances. We need to know your budget, so that we can make sure you get the most out of your experience in creating a special piece of jewellery with us. Knowing your budget helps us to determine what stones and metal types we can offer you, as well as the complexity of your design.

Be realistic about your budget.

If possible, have a think about your budget before booking in for a consultation and come along with an ideal figure in mind. This help us ensure we’re on the right track from the start.

We promise that we won’t try to upsell you or encourage you to increase your budget. We always aim to show that you can still get a high quality design no matter what your budget may be, so try not to worry or feel discouraged if your budget isn’t as much as you wish it could be. We’ll also show you creative ways that we can get the look that you want within a budget that’s comfortable for you.

Compromise isn’t a bad thing.

Sometimes a little bit of compromise can make a big difference! Tweaking your stone size by a millimetre or opting for a lesser carat can allow you to achieve your dream ring within your budget. Katie will always do her best to give you options and let you know where compromises can be made. Believe it or not, that millimetre might not make much difference visually but it can make a big difference financially!

Even if you’ve got all the money in the world, you still need to set a budget.

Surprisingly, having a budget actually makes the process much easier. Having a commission with no cap makes sourcing and designing your piece difficult as we don’t know the limitations. Transparency is key here - it helps us and it helps you!

We’ll keep you updated throughout the process

There is often variables in price when it comes to sourcing stones, so we can give you these options when the time comes. It may mean the final cost is a bit different than our initial estimate, but we’ll always make sure it stays within budget.

Lastly, remember that you’re buying from an independent small designer. Our products are one of a kind pieces handmade in Glasgow. Our prices do reflect that, but they are always fair! Visiting a high street jeweller may be much cheaper, but it will lack the quality and individuality that our jewellery holds.

So even though it might feel intimidating… don’t be afraid to tell us your budget! We hope this post has shown you that budget isn’t a bad thing, and we’ll always do our best to make it work.
